How we find our longshots
Big fields are where bigger prices live. Our longshots come from races with 10 or more runners. In each one we take our top-scoring horse on form, ratings and fitness, but we leave out:
- the top-rated horse in the race, and
- horses that won last time out,
because both are often near the front of the betting. We show up to three a day, in race order.
Why back them each-way?
An each-way bet is two bets: one to win and one to place. If the horse wins, both pay out; if it finishes in the places, the place half still returns at a fraction of the odds. The number of places paid depends on how many runners there are and the type of race. Big fields often pay three or four places, which is why each-way suits longshots. Check your bookmaker's each-way terms before you bet.
Keep stakes sensible
Longshots win less often than our NAP, by design. Keep stakes small and only bet what you can afford to lose. Free support and advice.
